***Change to the Elimination of Architectural Barriers law regarding issue date timeline for submitting construction documents: House Bill 1055, passed by the 81st Texas Legislature, amends Texas Government Code, Chapter 469, §469.102(b) relating to the procedure for submitting certain plans and specifications of buildings or facilities for the purpose of eliminating architectural barriers encountered by persons with disabilities. Plans and specifications are to be submitted not later than the 20th day after the date the plans and specifications are issued. If plans and specifications are issued on more than one date, they shall also be submitted not later than the 20th day after each date the plans and specifications are issued. House Bill 1055 and the change to Government Code, Chapter 469 became effective September 1, 2009. TDLR encourages all persons interested in the elimination of architectural barriers program to review the updated Government Code, Chapter 469 at http://www.license.state.tx.us/ab/ablaw.htm. ***Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) releases Technical Memorandum TM08-01 clarifying curb ramp surface texture requirements within the State of Texas.
